Its been a difficult few months for everyone and our hearts go out to those and their families that have been affected by Covid19.
We wanted to pass on to you a little bit more information about your stay ie what we are doing to prepare to welcome you and also what to expect at the cottages.
We are a small family business and we would like to thank you for your ongoing support.
We are constantly monitoring the devolved government’s guidelines and will inform you if there needs to be a change to your booking. Changes to our T&Cs or information to guests will be updated on this page.
Cleaning Protocols and Risk Assessments
We have completed risk assessments for both cottages and are keeping up to date with industry and Scottish Government advice on cleaning protocols for self catering cottages. We have put in processes to implement these protocols.
Our housekeepers are professionals who have been trained in the correct way to prepare the cottage for you. On arrival you will find a cleaning checklist signed by the housekeeper.
We will be using a Virucidal/Bactericidal Disinfectant that passes EN 14476. You will find this and other cleaning materials provided at the cottage. We will also provide hand sanitiser and antibacterial hand wash for use during your stay. We have checked that all the products used do not compromise NHS or care home supplies.
Linda has completed the "Good To Go" accreditation scheme. The Scottish Government have adopted the scheme's goals - Fergus Ewing, Scottish Government Tourism Secretary stated
"Good to Go is a really positive development, developed jointly by the four Visitor agencies across the UK, that will ensure the sector is as prepared as possible to welcome visitors again. I’m pleased to see the establishment of this UK wide self-certification scheme that will enable businesses to demonstrate that they are ready to reopen and give much needed confidence to visitors and communities that tourism can begin again."
We have also achieved the AA Covid Confident accreditation.
Arrivals and Departure
Check in / out will be contactless for your safety. We are always at the end of the phone if you have any questions. Both cottages have a landline.
In order to allow our housekeepers extra time to clean the cottage for your arrival. Our new check in time is from 5pm please do not arrive earlier. Check out time is 9am on the morning of your departure. This is a temporary change to our check in / check out times. We will be unable to accommodate any requests for an early check in.
The New Normal for Self Catering
We have always been proud of the extra attention to detail we have offered to our guests and we have had many kind comments regarding this. Sadly we will now have to strip back the cottages in order to meet the new cleaning protocols. Most throws, cushions and extras provided will be removed for your arrival. You can be assured any remaining items ie books and the odd cushion will have been cleaned / quarantined in accordance with government guidelines.
We will also have to reduce the amount of crockery, serving dishes, glasses and utensils etc so these can be run through the dishwasher prior to your arrival. We have removed baking tins, fruit bowls and non essential items.
There may be clean dishes in the dishwasher on your arrival if this is the case we apologise however it takes time to run all the kitchen equipment through it at a high temperature.
We provide all bedding and towels however if you prefer to bring your own do please get in touch. Bedding and towels will laundered in line with Government advice.
Please ensure that you are able to stay with us/ travel within the guidelines of the Scottish government, these can be found at the following link:
Visitors will be required to adhere to any travel restrictions within their area of residence and will not be allowed to travel unless their government lifts restrictions to do so.
Please note that Scottish guidelines may differ from other UK advice and states that if you are showing any symptoms of Covid 19 you must not come on holiday. Guests who develop symptoms during their stay must inform us immediately - check out and return home to self-isolate according to current government guidance. Guests who cannot do so will be liable to pay in full the published price for any extended stays. We recommend you take out travel insurance.
The number of households who can stay in self-catering accommodation is subject to the periodic reviews as informed by the science and public health evidence. A one household rule per self-catering premises is now a legal requirement. If your party is made up of more than one household do please get in touch.
Please use the hand sanitiser provided every time you enter the cottage or use the antibacterial hand wash at the kitchen sink.
Guests must regularly use the virucides/ antibacterial spray provided on all worktops and maintain a high level of cleanliness during their stay.
Please bring your own masks and gloves for when you are out and about. Scottish Government have requested anyone entering a shop must wear a face mask.
You will find instructions for check out at the cottage - new requests are outlined below. We thank you for your cooperation with this in advance.
You will be kindly asked to strip all used beds and place bedding and towels in to a bag and seal / zip it.
All bins must be emptied.
Please use the dishwasher at all times and run it at a high temperature during your stay.
